Description

I'm maintaining a collection of all Hanayama puzzles available on this site. Now I'm proudly uploading one to that collection myself.

Originally named Plus Puzzle, now it's branded Hanayama Cast Cross. This is Edi Nagata's latest puzzle that enters mass production. Difficulty level is 3 out of 6, which suits both beginners and puzzle gurus.
As a matter of fact, Edi Nagata himself is a 3D printer hobbyist too and guess how he build it initially? (you may guess again, see erratum)

need support

The goal is of course, put together & take apart, no undue force is required.

Tolerance is crucial to this puzzle. A little tighter then the moves are not smooth; a little looser introduces unintended movements that allow it almost come apart automatically.
I remixed it to work just right for me, but your mileage may vary. You may try scale it to fix tolerance issues - larger=looser, smaller=tighter. Please post your makes and report your status.

Whether it's working for you or not, please consider buying the cast metal version from Hanayama - they always do puzzles right. Search “Hanayama Huzzle Cast Cross”

Erratum

I just find out Plus Puzzle, the prototype of Cast Cross, has a slightly different structure. Although the solution is more or less the same, it's much easier to model but trickier to print. see Plus Puzzle Plus (Print in Place)

Also Plus Puzzle is released in 2010. He probably didn't 3D print it initially (he was using LiveCube), while he did 3D print it at some point, there's photo of it online.
