This model provides replacement components for the Melissa & Doug Construction Set. These parts are designed to replace missing or broken pieces and keep the set usable.

The original set is fun, but the included wooden parts are not always consistent or durable. With regular use, some pieces can break—especially at thinner sections. These replacements are designed to be more durable while maintaining compatibility.

Design notes

The original parts vary in size and are not precision manufactured.
To account for this, dimensions were averaged to create parts that fit reliably across different sets.

The screw threads are non-standard, so custom threads were created to:

• match the original fit

• remain intentionally loose (like the originals)

• avoid frustration for younger users

Included parts

• Flat bars (multiple lengths)

• Connectors and spacers

• Bolts and nuts

• Block nut (horizontal thread)

• Screwdriver

Print notes

• No supports required

• Plates can be printed at draft settings

• Recommended:

  • 0.20 mm layer height for threaded parts

  • 3–4 walls/shells

  • 10–25% infill (higher near bolt connection points)

For best strength:

• Use higher infill (15–25%) near thread interfaces

• Variable infill works well if your slicer supports it

The block nut includes a horizontal thread overhang but prints reliably due to the intentionally loose tolerances.

Additional notes

• The screwdriver includes a bottom fillet that may challenge some printers

  • If needed, slightly sink it into the build plate in your slicer
