Description

I like the idea of arranging the cars from the Lego Speed Champions collection on shelves above each other, like MroznyHipis suggested. I also like modularity, but not when it smacks of assembling lots of interchangeable parts, unnecessary post-processing and using screws. So I designed a solution for 4 (or just 3) cars from scratch that fits perfectly on, say, an IKEA Billy bookshelf.

Instructions:

  • Choose a base for 4 or just 3 cars (depending on your shelf depth).
  • Choose the correct head (pictured) for your car's chassis.
  • Print the base and the number of heads for the chosen number of cars.
  • Print on a 0.2mm layer, 3+ walls, no supports for everything except the Head 6×4 with studs (print studs horizontally at the top, use organic supports for the bottom surface).
  • Use high quality material and temperature for strong interlayer bonds; better ABS/ASA than fragile PLA.
  • Placing heads for Lego Speed Champions (and compatible) chassis can be done by just sliding them onto the base pins.
  • Enjoy your Lego Speed Champions collection. 🏎

Updates:

  • 240613: Added 6×2 thinner head for cars with special chassis like McLaren Solus GT (from Lego 76918).
  • 240425: Added 6×2 head.
  • 240217: Added two more heads for newer/older cars – longer 8×4 and 6×4 with studs for cars without slots in chassis.
