Description

Playing Mansions of Madness in solo mode and controlling two investigators, I sometimes lost track of how many turns each investigator had made in the current round. I also occasionally didn't notice I'd reach the limit for Horror or Health cards, with some of them face up and some face down. What I needed was counter to keep track of these three things.

I've designed the Tri counter to have replaceable score wheels so that it can count up to different values, and a special wheel for counting two turns and the Mythos Phase.

The wheel stop centre hub has a graphic to indicate what the score on that wheel represents. There are three types: one with a heart shape for health; one with a brain for horror; and one with a T for tracking turns. I have also included a blank one, you can use to add your own symbol.

The counter is assembled just by pressing the parts together and can be reassembled with different wheels to match the different investigators. The pointer on the wheel stops should point towards the spring and indicates the current count for that wheel.

Here are the dimensions to make custom wheels. The text is Arial Black Bold 3.5mm height. Total Wheel thickness 3.2mm, text raised in 0.6mm.

For the Mansions of Madness base game and using two investigators , to cover all combinations, you will need two of each wheels, plus an additional 0-7 wheel.

There is a holder to store the spare wheels for the two counters plus the additional 0-7 wheel.

I printed mine in PLA and the design doesn’t need any supports. The wheels will either need a colour change to make the numbers show clearly or the use of a marker pen to highlight the markers. I had the best success using a marker, after taking time to clean up small stringing from the numbers. Any marker ink that gets in the wrong place, can be carefully scratched off with a small craft knife.
