Description
The BK-1 AEG Foam Dart Blaster is a dream come true for me when it comes to Nerf. It's in an AR-like form factor, really great controls, performance, and features, plus it's compatible with some standard AR equipment like handguards and stocks. That being said, its proprietary magazine design is a turn-off for some. Most people (myself, a broke college kid, included) don't want to shell out loads of money for extra mags. And personally I find modding for Talon compatibility to be a pretty big risk on a blaster I spent a good chunk of dough on.
Thus, I present to the world: the Tsunami magazine!
This was inspired by the Sure.T magazine, hence its vertical print orientation and option to use either a compression spring or constant-force spring. The geometry is a decently accurate replica of the BK-1's mag, and fits like a glove while improving feeding.
Choice of spring is up to you. You can use a drum spring or a compression spring.
Assembly is drop-dead easy. If you're using a drum spring, hook it into the slot near the top of the mag, then yoink the coil out below the bottom. Slot on the follower, and gently guide it up the viewing window to make sure you don't break anything. If you're using a compression spring, drop in the follower, then the spring. Once you have your preferred spring and follower in there, pop on the cap and use 2 small lengths of 1.75mm filament to secure it. Lastly, install the new magazine release by undoing the small mag release screw on the right side of the blaster, removing the button and spring, and replacing the catch before buttoning everything back up.
The magazine pictured is a smaller prototype that holds only 10 rounds. The one included in the files should hold 14-16.
Print the housing with 2 perimeters, at 10% infill with a nice, wide brim. Print the followers, caps, and magazine release at 3 perimeters and preferably 12% or higher infill.
