Description

This is a riff on the classic kid's fishing game but with larger fish and more powerful magnets. The models were designed in Fusion 360 with a maker's license. As designed and posted the magnet in the fish mouth is a 6mm x 2mm round rare earth magnet sourced from
Amazon. The “hook” magnet is an 8mm x 2mm rare earth magnet also sourced by amazon. The holes as designed and printed (using Hatchbox PLA with a 60C bed temp, 215C first layer , 210C for all other layers) for the magnets do hold them snugly for older kids who won't be tempted to eat magnets. FOR YOUNG CHILDREN YOU SHOULD GLUE THE MAGNETS SECURELY AND VERIFY THEIR ADHESION PRIOR TO USING THE GAME. YOU STILL MUST MONITOR THE KIDS CAREFULLY - SERIOUSLY. IF YOU CAN'T DO THAT PLEASE DON'T PRINT THIS. The fish print was sliced using a “fast” setting in Prusa Slicer (0.35mm layer height) and 20% infill and the detail was more than enough for what we needed it for. The hook was sliced on 0.15 layer height. I added custom names and words within Prusa Slicer so the CAD and the 3MF are blank for your own editing as you see fit. The hook was designed to have thin fishing line passed under the support bar after the magnet was in place, however if you use twine or a different thickness material to attach the hook to your “pole” you may need to tie it before mounting the hook magnet. The “hook” leaves the magnet a little proud of the holder to maximize the possibility of it “hooking” this fish. All in all it was an easy print at just over an hour per fish - with words on the fish body, and 7 minutes for the “hook”. I hope you enjoy it and look forward to seeing any makes or remixes.
