I want to introduce you to a dinosaur brick set, see also my Building Blocks System.

Model Info | Introduction

I created a brick system (see here) adapted from (analogue to) Lego and optimized the dimensions for easy printing with PLA and full build operability (so that any connection is possible, parts are well connected and not just loosely bound, just like in the old days when you were playing with such block systems). Parts connect well (as seems not the case for some other models posted); just copying the geometry from the known brand or from the internet doesn't really work well, as many online sources do not include the whole geometry as necessary, and as originally it is a different material and not 3D printed.

· This kit includes 48 parts to build a dinosaur, which is a nice gift or just a nice time building and reminding you of the old days when your interest in technology was formed ;)

· I could make a plan how to build, but I think it is much more fun for you to create your own dino! Just look at the pictures for a rough idea on proportions, what is shown is a Stegosaurus

Thoughts

· I am looking forward to your makes, downloads, likes, and comments very much. A few additional ideas on the project:

· Price - a medium piece weighs ~ 1 g - in case of a 1 kg spool for 40 $, that makes just 4 cents! That is pretty comparable to a commercial set I think (plus, you can make it from a compostable plastic, get it overnight, choose your own color, and it was not shipped around the planet).

· It is not the same as LEGO. A (n FDM) 3D printer does not allow for super fine details, and PLA is known for some deficit regarding stability. Plus when you disintegrate the model with your teeth just as in the old days, the part might deform and render useless :)
