Description
Welcome to the Bergfried.
I ever thought of optimizing the space a dice tower can give. So far I, opted for efficient rolling paths to make most out of the given space, making my dice towers smaller in diameter. But this time I added extra room next to the rolling path to store the dice.
The neat thing, each floor level is its own dice box. So you can keep your sets well organized and separated. You can also change the height of the tower, by deciding how many floors you want it to have. The sky is the limit, or maybe how level your table is to prevent it from tipping over.
If you want to learn a bit about the names origin, here is a link to Wikipedia.
If you like my work and want to support me, I made a more detailed version of this tower and put it in my printables shop here.
Capacity:
The regular floors hold at least one RPG set of 7 dice. I tested with my own dice and Dispel Dice, which are larger then regular. On regular scale there is even some extra space.
The base will hold a lot more, but can also store one or two miniatures if not too large.
Printing:
The very best, everything works with regular settings at 0.15mm layer height. No supports, no brim. 0.2mm might also work, but 0.15mm is better for the threads.
With 100mm Diameter, the tower parts will also fit smaller printers.
First Update:
I played around with different thread geometries and I optimized the threads and the tolerances so they work better with regular 0.2mm layer height. For that I created Bergfried 2, the threads are not compatible with the old version, but I keep the old files available.
The new threads have less overhang and tolerances in the right places to easily screw together but also stop on the right position. And it is much better to print in PETG.
I made a small and simple tray. The tower fits inside for compact storage and its a slight press fit to attach it to the tower.
Second Update:
Further improved the threads. Will work with the previous version (Bergfried 2). Added a small groove, so the seam can find a nice corner and not interfere with the threads.
Also made a bayonet mount instead of the threads. So you can choose whatever you prefer. Bergfried 3.
Disclaimer: Some of the dice in the pictures are my own creation, if you're interested in that, check out my Instagram profile and contact me there. Same for print on demand. I don't have a shop and do commissions and print on demand as my time allows.
