Description
The XYL Unicorn is a really nice blaster, but I wanted to use it along with a side arm and I realised:
There is nowhere to attach a sling properly at all on this blaster.
Using a picatinny sling point is pretty much out of the question. The blasters balancing makes it hang horisontally if you do that, and only one of the screws holding on the rail is screwed into a heat insert, the other into thin plastic. So that seems… dubious at best.
And putting something around the stock will make it hang really low..
So I made this! It is meant to be sandwiched inbetween the lower receiver and the butt plate thingy. It's 3*4 mm and layerlines running along it, so it should be plenty. I have pulled backwards on a sling almost as hard as I could, and while it did bend a tiny bit, it just went back into shape afterwards.
The part features a small “shelf” for the buffer rod thing to lean against, just like it did inside the blaster before adding this. Not sure if it is important tho.
I have only included the right hand one, as a left handed user can probably just mirror it in their slicer :)
Shouldn't matter as long at it's pretty solid. I just did:
