Gears of Corruption Box Riser

Because the new components for the Gears of Corruption expansion fit into the original box, I am left with a very nice, but surplus to requirements, box. I also have the excellent Expeditions Hex Holder by Win7463, which is a must have upgrade when playing the game, but a bit annoying to store unless I spend a day printing out the storage box for it.

The Unused Gears of Corruption box would be a perfect, and decorative, storage solution, if only it were deeper.

Now it is.

This is version 1. I have already thought of some tweaks and additions so I'll update this as and when. Version 1 already does the job better than not having it at all so I've published this for people to take advantage of. Feel free to remix away to your hearts content. I'm already planning a top tray that will sit above the Hex sections and could be used to hold other small game components, or maybe Automa cards. Watch this space.

I had a few issues printing this. Nothing that renders it unfit for purpose. I'm pretty sure it was to do with me trying to get a 0.4mm nozzle and an ender 3 v2 neo to print it in less than 8 hours. With hindsight, the sensible approach would almost certainly to be to print with a 0.6 nozzle and a .28 or even .36 layer height. Once I settle on the final version and print a good example, my intention would be to glue it into the box as a permanent modification.

Tips: Print this upside down and you shouldn't need supports, although you might want to enable a modest brim if you are worried about bed adhesion. The slicer told me I should, but after printing it out I don't think its necessary if you are using a heated (50c for me) bed and a textured plate

01July24: I've added the release version stls, with 3mfs for prusaslicer. These modify the original riser and add a top storage tray that allows you to keep some extra components above the board organiser pieces. I printed these with 0.6mm nozzle and 0.24m layer height. In the 3mf files I have the ‘don’t retract unless crossing perimeters' setting (print settings/infil) set to on. With hindsight I would turn this off, unless you know your particular printer is tuned so that it will not ooze while making travel moves without retracting first.
