Description
@mochr has provided an excellent and detailed 1:100 scale model of the International Space Station. This base provides a way to display it.
The base also has a removable display stand for visiting vehicles, and can be disassembled for flat transport.
Prints can be very low infill. I printed the base at 15% and the tongs at 5%.
The base is 355 x 355 mm, so it will require an XL or equivalent-sized printer.
The stand supports the ISS with four tongs, on the P5 truss, S5 truss, Zvezda and Destiny Lab.
All of the threaded rods are the same length and require no cutting. But you are going to have to spend some time dialing in the exact locations of the lock nuts to make sure the loads are evenly distributed (since no two builds are going to have the exact same tolerance stackup, or get the heat set threaded inserts perfectly aligned). I've kept the clearances in the tongs relatively loose to make dialing it in easier.
The optional plate for displaying visiting vehicles supports these vehicles:
| Vehicle | Provider | Made By |
| Soyuz/Progress (rescale) | RSA | tato |
| ATV (rescale) | ESA | CatSailer1279 |
| HTV | JAXA | Sci3D |
| Dragon V1 | SpaceX | Sci3D |
| Cygnus | Northrop-Grumman | Sci3D |
| Dragon V2 | SpaceX | astro_sam |
| Starliner | Boeing | astro_sam |
| Sierra Nevada Corporation |
