Description

This remix has two different files, and are recommended to print separately. If anyone is wondering, the black pieces are PLA from SUNLU on Amazon, and the borders pieces are a Wood PLA from LOVOON on Amazon as well!

For the Dovetails and Dowels print, I set my print settings to:

  •  .12mm layer height
  • 40mm/s extrusion
  • 100% infill (very important)
  • Avoided printed parts and support parts when traveling.

I also printed this in a different PLA than the border pieces. Both because I wanted some contrast and the filament I used for the organizer pieces doesn't have as good of layer adhesion. This file took about 50 minutes to print.

For the Borders pieces, I set my print settings to:

  • .2mm layer height
  • 50mm/s extrusion
  • 16% infill with Cubic pattern
  • Avoided printed parts and support parts when traveling.

This print should not require any supports. You can adjust any of the settings to your preference or filament's requirements.

When putting the parts together, you will want to insert the two dowels into the vertical, rectangular slots on one piece first, then join the second piece into the corresponding slots and lining up the divots at the bottom.

Once that is done, we can start inserting the Dovetails. I started with the top ones first. It's a tight fit, but with some firm pressure (and pressing the two halves closer together), you should be able to get it in. Then, its the same process on the bottom.

I had such a blast modeling the changes to this model. I am very much a newbie at CAD, but I've taught myself so much. I will most definitely utilize this dovetail and dowel system in future projects as well.
