Description

This is an mount and fan duct for the E3D Titan extruder and its' included 5015 blower fan and a V6 hotend. This was made for the Prusa i3 Titan + V6 upgrade kit from E3D. Other hotends than V6 may be too long or short to properly align with the fan vent exhaust (haven't checked). It should fit all i3-based printer models with the regular i3 X-axis.

It is a remix of the left handed design by GarzaDB;

The carriage part has a few changes;

  • Removed the part sticking out on the top left
  • Removed the inductive sensor holder
  • Added a cable management loop on top
  • Made stepper motor holder thicker to add rigidness and durability

There is also a completely redesigned fan mount for the included blower fan. The fan is screwed down with two screws and the fan output nozzle fits inside a slot for easier mounting. The improvements and goals of this redesign compared to the original provided in GarzaDB's version are

  • Fan air is captured better
  • Fan output is all around the hotend nozzle area, below the block
  • Fan output is not limited by a small output hole
  • Sturdier mounting and more rigid
  • Prints without supports

The fan part is compatible with GarzaDB's carriage, so if you prefer that version with an inductive sensor holder, you can still use it with this fan mount (EDIT: I haven't tried this. Maybe it's not true, since the fan hood looks like it would obstruct the sensor).

Using the new E3D heater block sock is recommended. That's the blue thing around the heater block. It will insulate the heaterblock and nozzle from cooling air, and also insulate the printed fan vent from the heaterblock's heat. Also, it insulates your print from heat radiation coming from the heater block, allowing your print to cool better.
