3D Printed Guitar
Model & Design by JAMES FABIAN using SketchUp
Printed on Solidoodle 2 Pro @ 200microns layer height
ABS Plastic Filament 1.75mm diameter
Total print time approx. 25 hours

My original concept was to print a small portable Guitar the size of a ukulele but have an actual sized neck & fret board so it's easy to play guitar chords. I don't know how to play ukulele but I know basic guitar. I'm not expert in building musical instruments and this is my first try. Having said that, I tried printing only a 9-fret guitar. I managed to tune it correctly but when you play a chord it doesn't sound right maybe because it's not a complete set of frets.

I've spent a few weeks modeling this in sketchup and test printing it. It's really tiring so I've included all the sketchup files for you to explore and develop it. My printer has only 150x150x150mm print bed so my stl and skp files are all split to fit these dimensions.

I have one model included with the complete set of fret boards and a puzzle-like body for you to piece together and make a bigger body for more deep sound.

Please watch my video in HD, like and share :) http://youtu.be/vM5EbBcxhdA You can hear what the guitar sounds like at the end of the video.

By the way I tried incorporating ErikJDurwoodII's Geared String Tuner Test Jig MK1 but it failed printing and I think it's not that strong so I bought a cheap $5 guitar tuner here http://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-2-Classical-Guitar-Tuner-Tuning-Keys-Pegs-Machine-Heads-p-18442.html
shipping is fast and I've modeled the exact dimensions of this in my head.skp file.
