Description
This is a building set for the 20 standard amino acids with pins/holes for assembly. It allows for assembly of a peptide chain, understanding of peptide torsion angles, amino acid stereochemistry, and sidechain identification.
Each residue requires one Calpha, one peptide-omega (the peptide bond linkage), and one side chain. The exception are Glycine, which has a special Calpha backbone, and Proline which contains a specialized backbone and sidechain model. The terminal residues can be capped with N-term and C-term.
It is highly recommend to scale these up by at least 12X (1200%) so the pins are sufficiently strong. Print with a raft, or use a brim with a very small offset (0.1-0.2mm) to help ensure that the contacting spheres will stay on the build plate. It can be useful in some cases to intentionally move the object slightly below the build plate to maximize the number of atoms that contact the build plate. Supports are needed in almost all cases.
