Description
This is just a first sample of what I think I will call "SurfaceWrite"!
I say this because this method allows you to add your own customized text to ( at least, in theory ) almost any ( "watertight" ) object! Although I have not tried it yet, you should be able to add other items / objects to the "surface" as well!
The interesting part, is that when it comes down to it, this is just a relatively simple "formula", that can be used to calculate a "surface area" for ( almost ) any object.
I say "almost", because I had problems with several models I tried to use. My software informed me that all of them were not "watertight". I was able to "fix" one of them ( the "knob" ) , using www.makeprintable.com , after which the process ran ok.
A major advantage of this approach is that it allows you to use ANY font file / style that is listed under the openscad "Help" menu - "Font List" option.
I am still working on the "include" / "example" scad files. but I just wanted to see what everyone thought!
