Description

Drone platform for 12inch props. Designed with the maker and developer in mind.

Recommended hardware:

  • 12 inch props
  • motors between 800kv to 500kv with a 19 mm & 25mm bolt tie down pattern (tested with 650kv MT3506 T-Motor)
  • small 36mm x 36mm flight controller (tested with Flip32)
  • 4 in one 36mm x 36mm electronic speed controller (tested with Favourite 20Ax4)
  • small 25mw VTX with fixed antena mount (tested with Foxeer TM25)
  • small FPV camera (tested with Foxeer Arrow V1)
  • VTX antena
  • 30mm length x 5mm diameter round aluminum standoffs inserted inside motor arms. Place a screw to absorb impact when hammering the standoff inside the motor arm.
  • steel screws to hold motors and center plates (6mm recommended thread length)
  • two 4s 1300mah lipos

Motor boom printing recommendations:

-Setting low infill values will make the booms lightweight as carbon fiber counterparts or maybe lighter. Unfortunately this will sacrifice strength. On the other hand setting higher values will make it stronger but heavier. I tested this legs with 50% infill and 1mm wall thickness they weighted the same as DJI flame wheel cousins and withstood minor 20ft crash landings.

  • To print without supports or rafts print with the flat side towards printing bed.
  • PLA is ok material ABS is the go to.
  • Depending on the calibration of the 3d printer minor modifications may be needed for the standoff inserts.

CNC recommendations center plates:

  • I tested with 2mm thickness carbon fiber cutting it with a 3mm router bit. If it is your first time cutting carbon fiber go slow with the feed rate. Cut depth should be half of the diameter of the tool. I was able to achieve this cut with a GEN 1 Shapeoko in 30 minutes (SUPER SLOW so the steppers motors would not skip a line). On a more profesional machine such as a Laguna Tool you will have a superb cut piece in as little as 5 minutes.

Dimensions:

  • All the files are in mm
