Description

Because of the design of the popular after-market Geeetech MK8 extruder it's difficult to use flexible filaments, such as NinjaFlex(tm). A lot of people have designed and published a similar thing. But this one is different. :)

This guide is made specifically for use with the E3D Hobb Goblin extruder gear. I use it because I really like it.
Because its smaller diameter the filament output sits at a slight angle towards the PC4-M6.
This guide also fixes the angle issue.
(At delta X it measures at about 1,2 mm offset to the right).

(The original straight cut gear is larger in diameter. And the original bearing has a concave surface where the filament ride on, which acts as a guide for the original gear).

Parts

  • 1x E3D Hobb Goblin, replaces original gear
  • 1x Bearing "624ZZ" - ID: 4mm - OD: 13mm - Depth: 5mm, replaces original bearing
  • A piece of Teflon tubing with the dimensions of 3mm outer diameter and 2mm inner diameter.
    • Leave long so it goes all the way in to reach the PC4-M6 pneumatic fitting.
    • Insert and cut to the shape of the guide on one end. Use a sharp, thin blade.

Log:

  • Test print 1:
    • Enlarged hole for tube diameter to 3.2mm, was 3.1mm
    • Height reduced to 12.5mm, was 12.7mm
    • Location of M3 screw / spring center distance from backplate now 6mm, was 6.35mm
    • Removed logo, was to tiny to 3D print and causes top layer defects
  • Test print 2:
    • Fits, after a little clean-up of the holes. :)
