Vibration Isolator Mold - Medium Duty - Customizable

You might of read about my awesome discovery when attempting to cast ordinary cheap household silicone… If you didn’t then it’s simple, if you add artists acrylic paint to cheap household silicone then it will set to a lovely spongy silicone in 45 minutes! I call this stuff Silicheap™ ! :D The beauty of it is that you can colour it any colour you like with the acrylic paint. I’ve made injection molds for both the original light duty 26mm OD version and this medium duty 40mm OD version.

I get an odd bit of satisfaction when the little 1mm vent hole squirts out some Silicheap™ to let me know the mold is full :)

My original design dampener was for lightweight dampening but I needed some beefier dampeners so I made the Medium Duty Vibration Isolator and I’m sure you could put them to use too :) There is a size to fit both the 10mm & ⅜ nuts and bolts and a second size to fit 6mm or ¼ - 20 nuts and bolts.

This new design casts the Silicheap™ separately and then you place whichever combination you like onto it;
*There’s a male to female version version
*a male to male version
*a female to female version
*and it can also be one sided with a nut or bolt on the other side for ultra grippy vibration absorbing feet for things like your printer.

I made some in some lovely Blue coloured paint though I demolded it after 15 minutes. It’s best to leave the Silicheap™ in the mold for at least 45 minutes. Once de-molded then you need to let it fully cure overnight until you can barely smell the silicones characteristic vinegar smell.

I’ve added the original Light Duty Silicheap™ feet video as a reference as I go into a lot more details in that about mixing measurements for all you detail oriented Makers out there ;-)

I really love this squishy stuff and I’m planning on using it a few more times in upcoming projects!
