Description
This design is patterned after German Gebirgsjäger WWII Mountain Trooper Snow Goggles (shown in photo). These in turn were based on the slit style goggles worn by the Inuit people of the Arctic. The Inuit style basically has two colinear horizontal slits and were made of a single piece with a head strap. They were specifically fit to the wearer's face. This design incorporates an additional vertical slit and two angled slits in each eyepiece. Since the eyepieces are held together by a flexible strap (sneaker shoelaces) they can be fitted to most any face shape by simple adjustments of the straps. The function of the narrow slits is to reduce snow glare and wind and can actually improve visual acuity. Finally, DO NOT DRIVE OR PERFORM POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS TASKS WHILE WEARING THESE GOGGLES. Your field of view is signifcantly restricted and it can be dangerous.
