If you are a kook like me, your surfboard goes flying on a regular basis. I designed this base plate replacement for my 9' CatchSurf OdySea LOG - between setting this on the roadside while unloading or in the sand, the base plate (foam glued on) basically disintegrated and fell off.
This plate is sized for my board, but you can just size it for yours. Orient the jagged side towards your interior foam for more surface area. Use hot glue to attach this to your foam core, then more hot glue to glue the soft top around it. Worked for me!
Note: Some Youtube repair videos recommend epoxy for repairs like this, I have found that hot glue is the only adhesive (that I could buy as a person that is not a real shaper) that will flex with the board even in cold water. it is not very elegant, but cheap and effective - just like a Foam Top!
