Description
This are some add-ons for a hydroponic system called Herbert (can be found on Kickstarter by that name).
Update 03/20/19:
New, more stable and better printable sponge holder designs for the original sponge:
HerBrickSpongeHolderV8 _latestForOriginalSponges.stl
and for the alternative RootRiot sponge:
HerBrickSpongeHolderVb_forRootRiotSponges.stl
Both designs use the same inlay (HerBrickInlay2.stl).
Update 01/26/19:
Added a sponge holder (two versions): I designed a replacement sponge holder that consists of two parts, an inlay wich fixes the sponge holder into the slot at Herbert and the sponge holder that is inserted into the inlay. The inlay also supports the transparent caps used for germination that would otherwise drop down often. This are the files HerBrickInlay2.stl and HerBrickSpongeHolderV2.stl. The replacement design also has a handle that allows for easy removal of the complete assembly (inlay, sponge-holder, sponge and plant) for adding water, maintenance or rearrangement of the plants.
There is also a direct replacement that locks into the snaps at the slots, this is the file spongeHolder.stl
Initial post:
The tools are a a cap to cover a sponge slot, a cap to cover the very bright status LED at the front, a support to prevent the transparent sponge slot covers from falling down.
All parts can be 3D printed or laser cut.
The cap support can be inserted between the sponge holder and the recess in wich the sponge holder is inserted. Push the sponge holder with one finger to the upper wall wich opens enough play at the bottom to insert the cap support. With the cap support the transparent cap is fixed in a way that it doesn't fall down even if you knock on the front of that HerBrick row (without you better don't give it a sharp peek otherwise it's down).
The LED cap can be fixed by inserting it between the case and the front panel. The status LED is still visible thru the cap (including the status color), brightness could be varied by infill and filament color.
