Description

Remix of the original part designed by mgx, just longer so you can reach all the spacers from the edge of the bed (even the center one).

If you're not using it to add/remove bed washers, you can scale just the height down to 7.5mm in your slicer.

How to use these

To remove bed spacers:

  1. Loosen all screws on the bed almost fully, but with a few threads still engaged in each
  2. Lift up on the bed just enough to make room to slip the tweezers underneath
  3. Push the tweezers over the spacer you want to remove (lightly snaps in place over it)
  4. Remove the screw all the way for the spacer you're removing and set aside
  5. Carefully pull the tweezers out with the spacer captured

To install bed spacers:

  1. Pop the spacer you're installing into the end of the tweezers
  2. Loosen all screws on the bed almost fully, but with a few threads still engaged in each
  3. Lift up on the bed just enough to make room to slip the tweezers underneath
  4. Slip the tweezers in with the bed spacer still captured, and align with the hole in the bed.
  5. Insert the screw for that spacer through the bed and spacer and engage just the first few threads
  6. Pull the tweezers out, gently releasing the bed spacer (now held in place by the screw)

I used this to remove my spacers one by one and sand them down to achieve a much more level bed. Mesh leveling is great magic, but the more level the bed is to begin with, the better it works. I went from a .45mm difference to a .08mm overall difference.

Need new/more bed spacers? Here's some US-shipping ones:

If you want to shim your low spots, these are the closest I could find, and are ~.025mm thick:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009YMBBK8/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&linkCode=sl1&tag=net0ac-20&linkId=9b3bd87dc97750366e187875efc7129f&language=en_US

If you find a source for 'proper' M3 ones that are less than .1mm thick, please let me know. The above-linked shims do work, the ID (inside diameter) is just bigger than necessary, so they can be fussy to keep centered on the bed spacer. They do still stay nicely in the tweezers, since the OD (outside diameter) is almost spot-on.
