Prusa Filament guide

Note: If you downloaded the first version which did not have the hourglass shifted, it will not work when the extuder is raised to the top during printing, do not use that file.

2-6-18 I buy my filament spools at Microcenter, Inland Brand. They tend to be very full when new and I have found the the filament will get pulled over the edge of the spool when the extruder moves far to the left or right. Sometimes the filament will catch and the print will fail.

There are several other good guides out there. I did this before searching for one. I did have this idea which I thought made sense.

The design uses the mount method from the Spool holders designed by Prusa. I don't know if they are here on Thingiverse. I did not find them with a quick search but will link back if I do.

This first design uses a double funnel with the opening shaped like an hourglass to allow the filament to enter with little stress and leave with little stress.

The hourglass is raised to clear the top of the extruder when it is at maximum height and it is shifted forward to clear the spools I use.

The third version is the minimalist guide. The 4th version is the MG Tall version. (Minimalist Guide Tall [+1/2 inch) I like these two the best. They do the job and print in well under an hour.
