Description

This is a Keychain Screwdriver Pocket Tool that uses a common pen style screwdriver that I have found at Autozone for $1.50 and I'm pretty sure I've seen it at Microcenter, Home Depot and Lowes from time to time for about $2.

This little tool puts the following on your keychain:

  1. A phillips head screwdriver
  2. A flat head screwdriver
  3. A magnet for pulling screws out of tight spaces. (the magnet also holds the bit in place).

What you'll need:

  1. one map magnet 4mm x 10mm - these are available on amazon and at hobby shops.
  2. one pen screwdriver tool (comes with two two-headed bits). The bits should measure just under 5mm. The bits that I used measured 4.95 to 4.96mm
  3. Glue - I suggest a tiny dab of gorilla glue on the magnet before pressing the magnet in place. Don't use too much - remember it expands.

Printing Instructions:

  1. Print both STL parts: PocketScrewdriver07.STL and PocketScrewdriverCap08.STL I suggest using a brim with 5 outlines to help keep the parts on the print bed. Infill 20% or more. Shells 3 or 4 for strength. Layers 0.20mm

Assembly:

  1. put a tiny dab of glue on the magnet and push it into the top of the inner part.
  2. Once dry, the bits will easily slide into the screwdriver and make contact with the magnet. The magnet will hold the bit in place. (unless you put too much glue which can get in the way).
  3. Hold the cap at the bumpy end and push the inner part firmly into place. It will snap into place when seated properly. Be careful not to hold your fingers over the springy "U Cuts" as these provide the spring action that holds the bit in place and these need to be able to freely move.
  4. You can snap the screwdriver part into the cap either direction. One direction will provide a compact pocket mode, the other direction will give you a better grip on the screwdriver when using the tool.
