Galvanized pipe lamp adapter

This is an adapter to fit a westinghouse 70010 porcelain threaded lamp socket I found at Home Depot into a galvanized pipe 1 1/2" to 3/4" reducer. This will allow you to construct lamps from common galvanized pipe available at home improvement centers. There is enough space to tie a knot in the wiring between the socket and the adapter to minimize the liklihood of pull out. Plastic may deform with the heat of the lamp so lower wattage lamps are probably a better choice. Galvanized pipe has many sharp surfaces that can easily cut lamp wire so you should pay careful attention to this possibility both in construction and where the cord exits the lamp. Electricity is dangerous and your decisions in design and construction may represent significant shock hazard.
