Description
This is a teleprompter designed around my Sony A7iii with the kit lens (FE 3.5-5.6/28-70). This is a work-in-progress as I am adding flexibility for other camera platforms / lenses. The design intent is for this to be an "overly built" that doesn't require much fiddling to get everything setup each time – just chuck the phone into the thing & attach the camera.
This is designed to accommodate a large mobile device, in this scenario an iphone XS Max with this case - thing:3126361 Glass dimensions are 117mm x 168mm. The glass came from a standard picture frame.
This is designed with interlocking parts with no supports needed. In my prototype I've simply held it together with tape as you can see with the picture. However, I've modeled in threaded inserts that can be melted into the glass holder with a soldering iron so some components can be affixed with machine screws.
I designed this as a rigid base so the camera and teleprompter is a single, solid unit.
The tripod mounting plate is designed to be affixed with m3 flat-head screws into a tripod mount adapter. In this current design I've modeled my tripod mount adapter that accommodates threaded inserts that can be melted in with a soldering iron.
Also modeled into the base are two spots to melt in 1/4-20 threaded inserts (also to be melted in via soldering iron) so that any tripod mount adapter can be affixed.
How to fit your camera body / lens:
The lens shade is designed as a slotted insert so it can be modified to accommodate other lens diameters.
The camera mount is slotted to receive a 1/14-20 counter-sunk screw of the appropriate length. Shims can be added to increase the height if needed.
Mounting to tripod:
Either utilize the holes to melt-in a threaded insert, or model / remix your own tripod mount to mate with the camera/phone platform.
