Macro Lens and Flip Up Cap for HTI-19/HTi-18 Thermal Imaging Camera

This macro lens holder / flip up lens cap allows a HTI-19 or HTI-18 thermal imaging camera to focus at 2 inches. Macro lens flips up and out of the way, like the stock lens cap, to enable normal long distance imaging. Close inspection of PC board components is possible with the macro lens.

They were the kindest, most wonderful souls with whom we had the privilege to be long time friends. It was one of Steve's funny little stories that started me looking for a thermal camera. This project would not exist without him.

Tragically, Steve, Diana, and their daughter Tia were lost in a diving boat fire. They were celebrating Tia's 17th birthday, doing something they all loved. Bunnies will miss them dearly.

Comments:

This flip up lens cap and macro lens holder replaces the stock lens cap of the HTI thermal imaging camera. This macro lens holder then flips open/closed just like the original cap, but when in closed position places macro lens in front of camera.

A 20.0 mm diameter, 50.8 FL ZnSe lens fits in this holder and allows focusing down to 2 inches. Individual board components and pins are easily imaged.

Remove existing lens cap by cutting through one of its hinge pins with a hobby knife. This lens cap then snaps into the vacated mount.

ZnSe lens is held in place by use of a round plastic retaining ring. Tack weld the ring in place with a soldering iron to secure the lens.
