Description

This is not a NACA wing. The profile and surface is independently mathematically created with a variant of my cylinder drawing program. Wingspan is approx 980mm, longest section front to back is approx 220mm and chord at fuselage position is approx 30mm ,
Profile scales smaller toward wingtip while keeping generally same shape apart from some modification by the wingtip downward sweep.
The wings are swept back slightly to promote loosing any seaweed that may be collected.
I've researched and targeted this at the heavier rider to be an entry level foil with potential to last for some time, as I have kitesurf and windsurf experience, however it's intended for wingfoiling although it's probably fine for lighter SUP foilers as well. For wing foiling it's recommended to sand round the ends smooth to reduce injury risk and ILE wing fabric piercing risk.
Joining: Clear our the end joiner holes on the 1:1 size wing with a 3.5mm drill bit and join with bamboo skewers.
Find something around 2mm diameter for the half scale tail wing end.

If you are using resin infusion or vacuuming your composite fabrics snug after cladding, you will need vacuum resistant formers.
I'm currently printing 3 perimeters, 6 end layers and cubic infil which has the advangage of forming lots of sealed pockets. To get the cubic infill strong enough I've gone to 30% infill, partly based on one of the Gong designer's youtubes where he thinks some weight to the foils is good because it profides some carry through glide.This design however is completely my own though. Make sure not to be too aggressive on layer height. I had issues with cubes not sealing at 0.3mm layer height so I've dropped it to 0.2mm to give more overlap
You will use well over a kg of filament at this setting. PLA+ should be fine if you are using carbon fibre or basalt. If you are covering with all glass fibre than the flex of PLA + may not be enough to match the glass and you should look at doing it in ABS or PETg

It requires substantial reinforcing with composite fabrics and binding resin. I'm using 800gsm unidirectional sandwiched on the top convex curve where there are compressive forces and kevlar inside, Kevlar/Carbon weave outside of that.
Make sure to put a few extra layers out to around 100mm and 50mm to the sides where the front wing slings under the fuselage. Screw holes are M8 for the 1:1 size and M4 for the small size. Spacing is 120mm between centers for the 1:1 size and 60mm for the half size.
Shop around for the SS bolts, they are loaded with a lot of force if you crash into something at speed.

Wing clamps are included to set the angles on a flat fuselage. The tail wing can be set for angles of negative atack from 0° to 2°​ in 0.5°​ steps.
Tail wing is designed to mount ABOVE the Fuselage
