Description
i decided to pimp my ender 3. i ordered all the semi nicest parts a few weeks ago that were important for me:
after everything arrived 1-2 days ago, i looked around here for mounting adapters... nothing really convinced me. there's barely anything for the orbiter V2. most 5015 ducts are restricting the airflow like crazy, and adding a second fan instead of improving it. i also wanted to have the orbiter motor above the X extrusion, for best stability/balance and least stress on the rollers. and it should be compact, functional and lightweight
so i had to design my own. in freecad i lined up all the needed parts in their final position on the backplate. and started designing the stuff inbetween holding it all together.
quite happy how it turned out. should be finished, but i haven't fully assembled it yet.
This is made for 0.2mm layerheight (or 0.1) and 0.4mm line width. use at least 3 walls (i used 5) and some infill (20%+). i printed this with ABS, with the part cooling fan running (blowing 60C warm air from the heated chamber). the fan duct shouldn't have any supports inside it, only support the lower part of the overhang (use cura support blockers). everything else is small enough to bridge easily. see attached photos
the adapter is only held by the 2 big screws going to the rollers. it's enough. one half of one of the 5015 mounts has to be cut off, because the screw is in the way. the same with the other screw, you have to grind away the back of the volcano v6 adapter of the nf-crazy. the v6 adapter is needed to align and hold the short ptfe tube.
