Description
I really liked this design https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3454725 ,and how he incorporated roomba HEPA filters into it instead of standard air cartridges as they are much cheaper.
As a training exercise in 3d design, I designed my own version from the ground up with some slight changes.
I have also included the f3d file from fusion 360 so that you can download it and make upgrades/remixes to this design. The main thing which I wish i did differently was how I made the threads 3d printable, as they can be stripped fairly easy. I may make a upgraded version that uses threaded inserts in the future, but the printed threads work fine if you are careful.
Main differences:
-The variable speed control is incorporated into the main fan body, and is angled slightly to make it more ergonomic to reach back and adjust.
-I have also included files so that gaskets can be cut and used between the pieces if desired
-I designed my hose adapter to angle back slightly so it does not hit the users back
-A belt loop is incorporated into the back panel
-A 12v power port is incorporated into the main body so that any 12v power source can be used. ( I used my Bosch 18V batteries with the power adapter)
-All the threads are designed to be 3D printed so no nuts are needed (be careful to not strip the plastic threads)
-My filter housings are designed to fit the roomba filters that have a little tab on one side.
