Description
In a search for a rigid mount for BMG- Mosquito mount with Nema 17 stepper motor I've found that almost every available design is too heavy with weight further away of the axis. That kind of design is resulting in a lot of vibrations and unstable nozzle position.
Designed my own and want to share it, proper extruder/nozzle equipment NEED proper mounts! :)
Topology optimized mount (version 2) for Ender 5 to suit Bondtech BMG-M (Mosquito) direct drive / hotend package and Nema 17 motor. It is incredibly stiff and it is full rigid, NO movement or flexing at all.
Mount is designed to carry weight of the nema 17 stepper, BMG-Mosquito and can withstand force of 2 kilogram at the nozzle in all directions.
Topology optimization provide best stiffness to weight ratio doing complex mathematical methods. Simulated with (probably) more constraints than needed. Material in simulation was PETG, don't use material that is lower quality than PETG.
Fan mount is remake of McGybeer fan duct (I cant find original file to link it). It will sit very close to hotend, so best to print from good material that can withstand high temp.
Print in PETG or better material. My first try with PETG was really good and was working as it should (it is designed for PETG). I ended printing it with PA12+CF15. Overkill but mosquito deserve it :)
