Description
Electronic Filterwheel and Camera Rotator for Astrophotography (OnStep / MyFilterWheel)
This project provides printable brackets to convert a manual 5-position filter wheel to an electronic filter wheel, while also allowing for an automated camera rotator / de-rotator.
The filterwheel portion is powered by Robert Brown's MyfilterWheel project. It uses a 28BYJ-48 motor and can be powered directly from the USB 5v of an arduino nano.
The Camera rotator required much more torque, and is powered by a NEMA17 stepper motor. This required the motor to be externally driven. In my case, I use the OnStep controller that powers my mount. You could also use Robert Brown's MyRotator project instead.
CAUTION:
There are two different carousel options. One has five 2-inch slots. The other has four 2-inch slots, and one M52 slot. Be careful which one your use.
Please also note that some of the images show earlier revisions. Specifically the image with the caliper showing the stack height. That image shows a previous design which has been replaced by the current one.
