Questa estate sul traghetto mi hanno rotto una freccia della mia KTM 990 Adventure R. Inizialmente ho provato ad incollarla, ma è durata solo qualche giorno, convinto di volerla sostituire ho controllato il costo di una freccia originale (solo 35€ in realtà) e mi sono chiesto se potessi realizzarla da solo.
Perché scegliere ancora le originali? Sono ottimizzate per il fuoristrada ed anche in caso di caduta non si rompono, ma si smontano.

Andiamo per step:

  1. svitare la freccia e scollegare il connettore.
  2. svitare il vetrino trasparente
  3. la parabola va sfilata tirandola verso di noi. Nelle foto è visibile il meccanismo di incastro.
  4. staccare i connettori collegati alla parabola
  5. fare a pezzi il gambo della freccia per poter utilizzare di nuovo il bullone originale
  6. trovare il modo per pulire meglio possibile il vecchio bullone (io l'ho bruciato per squagliare via tutta la plastica rimasta attaccata)
  7. STAMPARE LA TUA NUOVA FRECCIA. Io l'ho fatta in TPU per poterla rendere ancora più adatta all'offroad, vedremo quanto resisterà.
  8. infilare i cavi all'interno del nuovo gambo
  9. incollare con semplice attack il bullone nella sua sede e procedere al contrario per il montaggio.

Rispetto all'originale manca il perno di fissaggio, ma si può ovviare al problema inserendo una vite corta. Ho preferito fare così per migliorare la qualità della stampa.
Stampando in verticale, i supporti, mi sono serviti solo per la parte del bullone.

EDIT: Dopo varie uscite in enduro, e almeno 3000km percorsi, le frecce funzionano alla grande anche sopra lo scarico caldo!

This summer, on the ferry, one of the arrows of my KTM 990 Adventure R broke. Initially, I tried to glue it, but it only lasted a few days. Convinced that I wanted to replace it, I checked the cost of an original arrow (only €35 actually) and wondered if I could make one myself. Why choose the originals again? They are optimized for off-road, and even in case of a fall, they don't break but come apart.

Let's go step by step:

  1. Unscrew the turn signal and disconnect the connector.
  2. Unscrew the clear lens.
  3. The reflector needs to be pulled out towards you. The locking mechanism is visible in the photos.
  4. Disconnect the connectors attached to the reflector.
  5. Break the stem of the turn signal to be able to reuse the original bolt.
  6. Find a way to clean the old bolt as thoroughly as possible (I burned it to melt away all the remaining plastic).
  7. PRINT YOUR NEW TURN SIGNAL. I made mine in TPU to make it even more suitable for off-road use; we’ll see how well it holds up.
  8. Thread the wires inside the new stem.
  9. Glue the bolt into place with simple super glue and proceed in reverse order for assembly.
    Compared to the original, the fastening pin is missing, but you can solve this by inserting a short screw. I chose to do it this way to improve the print quality. By printing vertically, I only needed supports for the bolt area.

EDIT: After several enduro rides and at least 3,000 km, the turn signals are working great, even above the hot exhaust!
