Nearly Indestructible Fly Swatter

This is a Remix of "Fly swatter head replacement by Jtczrt". I made changes to the size of the holes and other minor changes.

The handle is from a cheap dollar store flyswatter.

The flyswatter head was made by sandwiching PETG between top and bottom layers of TPU.

TPU by itself was too flexible and PETG by itself was too rigid and would break after a couple of good whacks. This combination so far has been indestructible! I haven't seen this technique done before but I thought I would try it. The layers stick together really well.

I made the "clip" in order to be able to replace the head if it broke or tore, but this has been going strong for over two years and there's no sign of any damage to it, it's still as good as when it came off the printer. So now the clip is there to change the cheap metal handle when it finally wears out. I don't think this flyswatter head will ever wear out, The clip is ABS. I tried PLA but it eventually breaks, PETG also breaks but not as easily as PLA. I'm currently on ABS and so far so good. You can use the clip for a replaceable head or use the plug and glue it in permanently.

This was printed on an Ender 3 using manual filament changes, ie stand there and pause the print between layers and swap the filament. The thickness of the swatter is such that at .20 layer height the PETG center layer is not perfectly centered between TPU layers but that doesn't seem to matter. I printed this a long time ago so I don't remember exactly, but I think it was two TPU layers on the bottom, one PETG (maybe two) layers in the middle and the final layer(s) in TPU. This combination results in perfect flexibility and durability.

Whenever I print TPU I print it on a build plate covered in blue painters tape on my Ender 3. I've found that blue painters tape is the universal "print all materials" build surface. Everything always sticks and always is removable with no glues or hair sprays. I've never used and kind of glue or hairspray, so far anyway, after 7 years. I use painter's tape "When it absolutely has to stick..."
