Description
Chassis kit to fix the shortcomings of the long flat skid on the FX118. This has a 10-degree skid and shortened the frame's bottom rail (battery relocated to slider). I ended up with an ESC above the transmission and the rx on the slider opposite the battery. The new sliders (see below) may allow esc and rx on one slider. If you are not using bumpers or a body hinge, I would cut the frame ends off. My version had removable ends, but they proved to be cumbersome.
Links:
This uses a stock skid plate, stock front links, and rear lower links. You will need a Deadbolt rear upper for the rear upper links. High clearance links work great but I recommend dbl bend rear lower links to gain the most breakover angle. If you do this, you must add a bend in the rear upper link. Here are the Injora links you can buy. 61.5mm. https://www.injora.com/products/1-pair-stainless-steel-high-clearance-chassis-links-for-scx24-micro-rc-crawlers-mods?variant=40433520181296
Body Mount:
You may want to print a 2nd body mount if you plan on using magnet mounts in the rear. The mounts are sized for 8x2mm magnets. I also added a spot to help with limiting 'straps' . The intent is you could attach a hairband from here to the center of your axle (upper link mounts). this would limit your suspension on steep climbs, but allow for some articulation.
Sliders:
These are different than my original design as they are now flat but still provide high clearance. This moves a bit more weight down lower and will be easier to fit with a body. They have slots in them for a battery strap additionally.
Tray:
My version does not have this, but added it for optional electronics mounting. It will also help stiffen the frame due to the flexibility of 3d prints.
