Description
This is a fiber/fibre optic cable blower/jetter that I designed and 3D printed to push a round cable through approximately 200m of 14/10 microduct. I used about 160 PSI of air and lithium spray lubricant (not ideal, but that's the white residue in the photo). An 18V drill drives one of the hex bolt heads, providing power and speed control.
The system worked surprisingly well, but I only used it once as that was all I needed it for. O-rings are used to grip and push the fiber around the gears. Other O-rings also seal the air around the cable to prevent leakage.
A FreeCAD 1.0 file is included, allowing modifications for different fiber optic cable types, microduct sizes, metric plumbing, and more.
This is a custom-built tool designed for a specific job. Adjustments may be needed based on your cable type and microduct specifications. This will take some time investment and knowledge, not for the faint of heart.
