Description

Introduction
A functional, reasonably faithful, scaled-down recreation of the wall-mounted light fixtures seen at the Anzac, Arden and Parkville Metro Tunnel stations in Melbourne.

Required additional materials

  • (1x) 12 x 1mm Aluminium Round Tube
    • Cut to ~340mm length with a hand saw.
  • (4x) M6 x 12mm Connector Cap Nut
    • The bottom 2 in the assembly are structural, while the top 2 are purely decorative.
  • (1x) M6 x 60mm Threaded Rod
    • Together with the bottom 2 Cap Nuts, this holds the two arms of the lamp together at their base.
    • I just purchased an M6 x 100mm bolt and cut it to length with an angle grinder.
  • (4x) M3 x 10mm Round Head Bolts
  • (2x) 10G x 50mm Low Profile Cabinet Screws
    • For wall mounting into studs.
  • (1x) Clear Epoxy Glue
    • Or something similar.

Optional materials for functional lighting
The design uses a 12V LED strip which is glued to the inside of a ~9mm wide, ~1130mm long spiral groove in the LAMP_INSERT part. I purchased this 3m LED Strip from Amazon and cut it to length - it was the shortest length I could find which used a DC barrel connector (rather than USB), and came with a wall plug and dimmer.
I also purchased this 12V DC Power Extension Cable, 3m to place between the LED strip and the wall plug, for additional length.
Note that I had to slightly sand down the casing around the male end of the extension cable, as it needs to fit through the 12mm aluminium rod.
