Description
Customizable cutting board stand with up to 5 slots. The size of each slot can be individually specified. Fins to allow for drainage when drying damp boards can optionally be added. The circular curve of the top surface is automatically determined based on the width and overall height. The front and rear faces can be sloped or have a curve applied (either concave or convex).
Note that this design has not yet been printed as I have not decided on the precise design I want to use. That said, the davidfischer-ch preset is a nearly exact clone of the stand that inspired this script (which has been printed).
All dimensions are in mm.
This design was inspired by Cutting Boards & Kitchen Scale Stand by davidfischer-ch (see second image) though it is entirely original code. A clone of the "Cutting_Boards_Stand_4_Plates.stl" model from that can be found in the davidfischer-ch preset. The PLA used in the original model appears to be Inland Lulz Green.
Most user-specifiable options are shown in the above diagrams. The full set of available options is:
center → If set then center horizontally on the origincount → Number of slots
Can be 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5
board_n → Size of cutting board (thickness, width, height)
These dimensions, specifically the thicknesses, are used (along with slack) to determine the size of each slot.
board_opacity → How transparent the displayed boards are
0.0 is fully transparent, 1.0 is fully opaque.
slack → Extra gap to add to each slot
This allows boards to be easily inserted and removed. This value should not be set too high since if the cutting boards lean too much it can move the center of gravity outside of the stand's footprint, causing the stand to tip.
spacing → Spacing between slots
front → Front extension
Distance between the front of the first slot and the front of the stand.
rear → Rear extension
Distance between the rear of the last slot and the rear of the stand.
width → Width at base
Total width of stand, lengthwise along the slots.
h_total → Overall height at center
h_lower → Height of slots
Distance from bottom of stand to top of slots (at outer edges, fins excluded).
fin_style → Whether to include fins
This can be set to one of:
No fins → Slots have a flat top surfaceFins only → Fins are applied but the underlying surface is flatFins with rise → Fins are applied and the underlying surface slopes down from the centerh_fins → Height of fins
Distance from bottom of stand to top of fins (at outer edges).
w_fins → Front-to-back depth of a single fin
s_fins → Spacing between fins
a_fins → Fin alignment within each slot
The fins can either have a fin centered on each slot (Center on fin) or can have a gap between fins centered on each slot (Center on groove). The same alignment is used for all slots.
h_rise → Additional elevation at center of slots
To aid drainage a sloped surface (with the peak at the stand's center) can be applied to the space between the fins. This value specifies the amount that the center should be raised relative to the normal bottom of the slot. Note that the tops of the fins will remain horizontal.
f_style → Front face style
Specifies the shape of the front face. For either a slanted or curved face the shape is created by removing material from the stand (the overall dimensions remain unchanged). This can be one of:
Vertical → A flat vertical surface.Sloped → Sloping inwards towards the top.Curved → Circular curve either inwards towards the center or outwards from the center.Sloped and curved → Both a slope and a curve are applied.fs_inset → Magnitude of the sloped inset on front face
Inset at top for sloped front face.
fc_inset → Magnitude of the curved inset on front face
Inset for innermost point for curved front face. Set to a negative value for a convex curved end (bulging center).
r_style → Rear face style
Specifies the shape of the rear face. For either a slanted or curved face the shape is created by removing material from the stand (the overall dimensions remain unchanged). This can be one of:
Vertical → A flat vertical surface.Sloped → Sloping inwards towards the top.Curved → Circular curve either inwards towards the center or outwards from the center.Sloped and curved → Both a slope and a curve are applied.rs_inset → Magnitude of the sloped inset on rear face
Inset at top for sloped rear face.
rc_inset → Magnitude of the curved inset on rear face
Inset for innermost point for curved rear face. Set to a negative value for a convex curved end (bulging center).
radius → Radius of top surface's curvewidth) and overall height (h_total).1.1 2026-02-24
