Description
This is a hook that attaches to the grab handle on the side of most RVs. I made this so I have a place to put the dog chain within reach of the door for when the dog is going in or out of the trailer.
This is two pieces printed at once so the hinge becomes integral to the part. Print with supports and then clear the support material and break the hinge free.
Is this overkill for stowage of a dog chain? Possibly.
Is the built in print a hinge necessary? Probably not.
Was it fun to see if it could be done? Absolutely.
Most* grab handles are 1" nominal tube. I printed the 1.0" model and there is a small gap at the bottom between the pieces. This is fine for me because it is snug. If you want a more lose fitting part, or maybe you want to put foam underneath it, there are increments every 1/6" of an inch for the diameter of the pipe. The hook and hinge remain the same size in all variants.
The clearance hole is size for an M3 screw with washer. I used a 12mm long screw and it just was flush with the other size. Recommend having some sizes around the M8 to M12 range depending on how close together the plastic parts get (flush together or air gap). Larger diameters should not require longer screws.
