Summary

We have so many questions about how to do multi material prints that we decided to create a test file for all of the RoVa3D owners out there to try out at home. We selected 5 materials (ABS,PLA,WOOD,HIPS, CARBON).

Instructions

Material:
Orange HIPS (From ORD, 235C, 0.5mm extra on tool change restart, Anchor Material)
Blue ABS (From ORD, 230C, 1.6mm extra)
Green PLA (From ORD, 210C, 1.6mm extra)
Wood Wood (From ORD, 215C, 4mm extra)
Black Nanotube Carbon (From 3Dxtech, 5.5mm extra)

Print settings:

All nozzles 0.5mm  300um layer height  175% extra extrusion on first layer  20mms first layer  40mms other layers  2 solid bottom  5 solid tops  3 perimeters  20% infill  5mm @ 50mm/s retraction  -80C Ooze delta with High skirt 25loops

Bed setup: 130C temp Kapton (From ORD) Aussie Extreme hold hair spray purple bottle (light coating on the Kapton)

Notes from Chris: I found that the Wood and the Carbon were very droooooly...The HIPS was chosen for the base anchor material because every other material sticks to it and it shows no warping and a perfectly flat bottom. Also, the wood bottom layers broke off when removing the print so the HIPS prevented that. I had difficulty getting the HIPS to stick to the Kapton so I used a light coating of hair spray (applied while the bed is hot) and it stuck sooo well that I damaged V1 taking it off the bed! There is a bit of a bug in slic3r so I had to manually remove all the tool changes in the first layer of the skirt. I just opened the gcode file in notepad++ and removed tool changes T1 to T0 (5 tool changes) with their temperature changes also. As far as I know this is the first 5 material print ever done in the world on an FDM printer!WE
