Description

To enhance stability and prevent slipping during use, it is recommended to place a non-slip mat on the bottom of the switch or use rubberized feet. This ensures the switch remains securely in place, even on smooth surfaces, improving both safety and reliability. 

 

Whether used in hobbyist projects or professional applications, this foot-activated limit switch enhances workflow efficiency while maintaining a compact and functional design.

 

Parts Required

  • Micro limit switch, for this I used these: https://www.amazon.de/Micro-Switch-Limit-Pieces-125-250/dp/B088LZD9RX/ref=sr_1_3_sspa
  • Wire, I used 2 core AWG22 approximately 30cm long, your application may need longer or shorter pieces though.
  • Two M3 x 16mm bolts
  • Four M3 nuts
  • Two electric crimp terminals

Assembly

Step 1

split the wire into two, I found it impossible to insert from the bottom but easy when inserting the wire from the top.  Once in, add the crimped terminals and cover.

Step 2

Attach the limit switch, this will be in the normally open state, when done push the limit switch into the housing.

Step 3

Insert the M3 nuts and bolts, it should not be too tight, but the second nut should be tight against the first nut as seen below.

Step 4

Test the limit switch and wiring with a multimeter, ensuring all is connected properly.

 

Step 5

Optionally add non slip mat to the bottom, this can be glued on if required but will ensure the switch will not slip around when used.

 

Final Thoughts

My original intent was to add springs, however, after building a couple of them it was not required, should they not work as expected and open easily consider adding 2 springs to help keep it open.

 

It will not withstand stamping etc, be gentle when using.
