Mortise & Dowel Clamping Template 🛠️🔩  

A customizable woodworking template designed to help you create precise mortises and evenly spaced dowels with ease. This clamp-on jig secures to the edge of your board using printed thumb screws, making setup fast and hassle-free.  

 

Features:

✔ Customizable – Adjust dowel spacing, mortise size, and board thickness to fit your project  
✔ Built-in clamping system – Built-in thumb screws let you attach the template directly to your workpiece  
✔ Perfect for woodworking projects – Ideal for furniture making, cabinetry, joinery, and hinge mortising  
✔ Router-friendly – Designed to work with a flush trim router bit for clean, accurate cuts  

 

Printing Recommendations: 

🖨️ Layer Height: 0.16mm - 0.2mm (higher precision means you won't have to work the thumb screws in the threads as much)
🖨️ Material: PLA works fine
🖨️ Infill: 15-20% is fine for the template, consider a higher percentage for the screws (smaller screws like M8 will snap if infill is low)

🖨️ Walls: At least 5 in case it gets chewed by a router or drill bit
🖨️ Supports: Not required (if properly oriented)  
🖨️ Notes: Screws will be tight, but will be smooth after tightening and loosening a bit

 

How to Use:  

  1. Customize the template for doweling, mortising, or both!
  2. Clamp the template to the edge of your board using the built-in thumb screws  
  3. For dowels: Drill into the guide holes for perfectly spaced dowels (drill press recommended)
  4. For mortising: Use a flush trim router bit to follow the template opening  
  5. Remove the template and enjoy your precise cuts!
