Description
Mods to suite the 3dSets Model 7: Buggy and Model 8: Buggster Beetle RC cars
The dash file that comes with the models is quite basic and I wanted just a little more detail so created these…
Apologies for the shouting but these parts are really small… as the parts are also multicolour you would also need an AMS (not sure for other printers as I only have an X1C)
The only STL you do not print is the “3dSets - Beetle Dash Mods - speedo vent mask.stl”… this is used as a negative part to cut out the vents around the speedo… I would also recommend you print the dashboard part with a 0.2mm nozzle too… it will take a bit longer but the details are small and a 0.4 will not be as clean
To add the vents around the speedo you start with the 3dSets supplied dashboard file….
…then right click on the object to load a negative part (which will be the speedo vent mask STL)
…position the part over the dash…
…then drop it down into the dash object to create the cut outs… (note the x/z position looks off in this as the dash stl imported upright and I laid it on the back face)
If you then slice the plate it should look like this in the preview…
If you want to highlight the recesses (will require an AMS) then you will need to use the mesh boolean tool to permanently cut the vents detail out so you can then use the paint tool to add the colour in.
Select the dashboard stl to subtract from and the speedo vent mask stl to subtract with using the ‘difference’ option
….this will then ‘cut’ the vents out of the dash…
…I would advise then right clicking the object again and choose “export as one stl” from the menu as this will mean you can reuse the modded file if you need to for another build without having to do all this again
Then you can use the paint tool to “fill” the bottom of the detail
