Crank Ring Guard Gates Carbon Drive 50t 104mm

This ring fits a Gates Carbon Drive CDX 50-tooth 4-bolt 104mm crank gear. The crank it fits is the Shimano Hollowtech II 3 ring 104mm. Other compatibility has not been tested.

In addition to chainring bolts/nuts of sufficient length, this ring requires metal sleeves to be pressed into the bolt holes. (I'll add photos at some point. Sorry, I didn't think of that before I assembled the bike.) The sleeves should have a 12mm outer diameter, 10mm inner diameter, and be 3.5mm thick.

This ring also serves as a 3.5mm drive line spacer. Gates Carbon belt drive systems require a very straight drive line, very close to the frame in my case. So this guard ring mounts between the crank's middle ring mounting face and the drive gear which is closest to the frame.

This crank ring guard is for a very specific application. You can of course try it on any bike you like but I make no claims of compatibility. This ring is intended only to keep loose clothing or shoelaces from catching in the belt and gear. This is not a bash ring and is not intended for impact with high clearance trail obstacles. 

If there is sufficient interest I could pretty easily change some parameters effecting offset and spacing and add more models/profiles.

I've added a couple feet that can be snipped off after printing to position the print vertically intending to improve overhang quality.

I printed in ASA, but next time I think PA6 CF will be better quality and strong enough.

The black/white layer filament changes were just an aesthetic choice.
