12cm Shad Teez Style – 2-Part Soft Plastic Lure Mold
This is a high-precision, two-part mold designed for casting soft plastic lures, inspired by the legendary Westin Shad Teez 12cm. This classic shad profile is famous for its deep body and oversized paddle tail, creating that iconic "rolling" action that is irresistible to pike, zander, and large perch.
Project Specifications:
- Lure Length: 120mm (12cm / ~4.7").
- Type: Shad / Paddle Tail.
- Design: 2-part interlocking mold with alignment pins for a perfect seal and easy de-molding.
- Compatibility: Designed for use with liquid plastisol (soft plastic).
Recommended Print Settings:
To ensure a smooth lure finish and mold longevity, I recommend the following settings:
- Material: * PETG or ABS/ASA (Recommended for better heat resistance against hot plastisol).
- High-Temp Resin (If using an SLA printer, this provides a "glass-like" finish on the lure).
- Layer Height: 0.1mm - 0.12mm (Lower layer height means less sanding and a shinier lure).
- Wall Loops: 4-5 (Ensures the mold is airtight and durable).
- Infill: 25-40% (Gyroid recommended for structural strength).
- Supports: Not required if printed flat on the heatbed.
Pro Tips for Best Results:
- Post-Processing: For a professional "store-bought" look, lightly sand the internal cavities with high-grit sandpaper (1000+) to remove layer lines.
- Lubrication: Use a tiny amount of silicone oil or dedicated mold release before pouring. This helps the lure pop out easily and adds extra shine.
- Safety First: Remember that liquid plastisol reaches temperatures of 160-180°C (320-350°F). Ensure your mold is fully cooled before handling and always work in a well-ventilated area.
