Boost MeHi! I just uploaded a custom 10cm soft bait mold. It’s a hybrid design perfect for Zander and Pike. If you like it, I’d really appreciate a Boost! It helps me keep the hobby going. Tight lines! 🐟
🎣 Soft Bait Mold - 10cm "Curvy Shad" (Loopy Lui Inspired)
This is a DIY mold for a high-action hybrid lure. The design is inspired by the famous Monkey Lures Loopy Lui, blending a ribbed shad body with a long, sensitive curly tail. While it follows that successful profile, it has been tweaked for better 3D printing results and DIY pouring.
✨ Key Features:
- Size: 10 cm (4 inches) – The "goldilocks" size for Zander (Walleye), Pike, and big Perch.
- Hybrid Action: The deep ribs on the body create micro-vibrations in the water, while the oversized tail kicks even at the slowest retrieval speeds.
- Print-Optimized: The mold halves are designed for a tight fit to minimize flashing (bleeding) and ensure easy demolding.
- 3D Eye Sockets: Features dedicated spots for adding 3D lure eyes for that professional, "store-bought" look.
🛠️ Recommended Print Settings:
- Material: PET-G, ASA, or ABS is highly recommended due to the high temperature of liquid plastisol.
- Layer Height: 0.12mm or 0.16mm for a smooth surface finish (less sanding required!).
- Infill: 25% minimum (Gyroid or Grid) for structural integrity.
- Walls: 4-5 perimeters to ensure the mold remains leak-proof under pressure.
💡 Pro Tips for Makers:
- Lubrication: Lightly coat the inside of the mold with silicone oil before pouring for a high-gloss finish and effortless removal.
- Clamping: Use strong spring clamps or a vise to hold the halves together tightly during injection or pouring.
- Cooling: Let the plastisol cool completely before opening to avoid deforming the thin tail.
Show off your catches! If you pour some cool dual-color baits or land a trophy fish with this, please upload a "Make" and share your photos!
