Description

I originally modeled these out of pure necessity. I had just installed a new under-counter water chiller and carbonator in my kitchen, and while the sparkling water was great, the noise was not. The compressor and carbonation pump were vibrating against the base of my wooden cabinets, turning the whole island into a loud, echoing amplifier.

I realized I didn't need a complex mechanical mechanism, I just needed a simple, wide-based model and the exact right slicer parameters to give TPU the perfect amount of "squish." After dialing in the infill and gyroid pattern, it completely silenced my water chiller (I WAS SHOCKED, night and day). I quickly realized that if this geometry and parameter combo could tame a heavy compressor pump, it could easily translate to silencing anything else that shakes, rattles, or rumbles around the house.

I designed this universal dampening pad to act as a heavy-duty shock absorber.

  • Wide Base: Distributes the weight of heavier appliances evenly so the TPU doesn't just flatten out under heavy loads
  • Retaining Lip: Features a raised outer edge so the machine's existing factory feet (or the corners of the chassis) sit securely inside and won't vibrate right off the pad
  • Chunky: Yes, don't be fooled, these are big, needs a bit of cushion for the pushin'

Recommended Print Settings:
To get the best sound dampening, DO NOT print these solid! They need room to compress and absorb energy.

  • Material: TPU (Sorry, only way these will actually function as designed - there are plenty of other models available that creatively structure PLA, etc.)
  • Infill Density: 15%  (This provides the perfect balance of structural support and vibration-eating "squish")
  • Infill Pattern: Gyroid (Crucial! Gyroid flexes in all 3 dimensions, making it the best pattern for absorbing kinetic energy)
  • Wall Loops / Perimeters: 2 (Keep walls relatively thin so the outer shell remains flexible)

These can easily be scaled.
