This is a fully parametric net pot designed specifically for semi-hydroponic growers (Aroids, Orchids, etc.). If you’ve ever struggled to find a net pot that fits your favorite decorative cache pot perfectly, this tool is for you.
Unlike standard net pots, this model allows you to customize every dimension—from the taper angle to the support rim width—ensuring a snug fit in any vessel. It features optimized airflow slits and a high-drainage bottom grid, making it perfect for chunky media like LECA or fine substrates like Lechuza Pon.
Key Features:
Fully Parametric: Adjust height, top diameter, and bottom diameter independently.
Custom Support Rim: Control exactly how much "lip" you need to hang the pot.
Supportless Rim Toggle: Allows you to remove the top lip for support-free printing.
Substrate Optimized: Adjust slit widths (keep it under 3mm for Pon!) to keep your media inside the pot.
Anti-Flex Reinforcement Ribs: Adds horizontal bands that bridge the vertical slits, preventing them from bowing outward under the pressure of expanding roots.
Integrated Support Legs: Ability to toggle legs which suspend the pot floor higher up to keep it out of the reservoir water and increase airflow. These are automatically angled to match the pot's taper.
Wicking Cord Holes: Two dedicated, larger holes in the floor specifically for threading wicking cords for self-watering setups.
How to Use the Parametric Customizer
When you click "Customize" follow these steps to get the perfect fit for your setup:
1. Measure Your Cache Pot:
Top Diameter: Measure the inside diameter of the top of your outer pot. Set top_diameter about 2–3mm smaller than this for clearance.
Depth: Measure the depth you want the pot to reach. Set height accordingly.
2. Set the Support Rim & Legs:
Rim Support: Measure the width of the rim of your outer pot. Adjust rim_width so the net pot has enough "shelf" to sit on without falling in.
Stealth Mode: If you want the net pot to sit hidden below the top of the outer pot, increase the rim_offset.
Supportless Printing: If you are printing a straight-walled cylindrical pot, you can uncheck Add_Top_Rim to print the entire model without supports.
Elevated Airflow: Enable Add_Support_Legs and set the Leg_Height to suspend the pot above the reservoir. This is essential for preventing root rot by keeping the root zone out of stagnant water.
3. Tune for Your Media & Roots:
For LECA: You can increase slit_width to 5mm–8mm for maximum airflow.
For Pon/Stratum: Keep slit_width between 2.0mm and 2.8mm to prevent the small rocks from falling out.
Heavy Feeders: If you are growing plants with aggressive roots (like Monstera), enable Add_Reinforcement_Ribs. These horizontal bands prevent the vertical slits from bowing or bursting as the roots expand.
4. Configure for Self-Watering:
Capillary Wicking: Enable Add_Wick_Holes to generate two dedicated, reinforced holes in the floor of the pot. These are perfectly sized for threading nylon wicking cords into your reservoir.
Automatic Protection: The generator will automatically "protect" these wicking holes by clearing away standard drainage holes near them, ensuring these holes do not merge into each other.
5. Generate & Print:
Hit "Generate," and MakerWorld will create the STL.
Pro Tip: Use the "Flush into Object" setting in Bambu Studio to use this net pot as the "waste" catcher for your multi-color cache pot prints!
Support Note: If the Support Rim is enabled, make sure to enable supports for that specific section!
