Description
A modular corm propagation system designed to create a structured, high-humidity environment for both propagation and early plant growth.
This setup is designed to fit inside clear acrylic display boxes; https://amzn.to/4mxhKBJ (approx. 33.2 x 23 x 21cm) and holds up to 24 dome-style corm cups while incorporating an optional humidity base layer.
The system keeps propagation organised, elevated, and easy to monitor, while allowing a seamless transition from propagation to early growth once sprouted.
This design is split into modular components so you can print what you need:
1. CormPod Holder
• 3 Tiered rack holding up to 24 corm cups
• Keeps cups stable, organised, and elevated
• Improves airflow and access
2. Humidity Base
• Deep-fill tray designed for passive humidity
• Sits beneath the holder inside an acrylic box
• Can be used independently
3. Full System
• Combines holder + humidity base
• Creates a complete propagation environment
The base is designed to support passive humidity setups using:
• Lava rock
• Pumice
• Leca (clay pebbles)
• Perlite
• Moss
• Water reservoir setups
Simply add water to maintain humidity levels within the enclosure.
Patterned lid can be used to:
• Improve airflow
• Reduce condensation pooling
• Help stabilise humidity
Designed to support the full early lifecycle:
Propagation Stage
• Use with dome cups for high humidity corm activation
Growth Stage
• Remove domes once sprouted
• Continue growing within the same setup
No need to relocate plants between stages.
Recommended Material:
• PETG (recommended for humidity resistance) I used Bambu Lab PEGT Translucent
• PLA can be used but may degrade over time in high humidity
Print Notes:
• Designed to print with no supports
• Infill density and pattern can be customised in your slicer depending on strength vs material preference
Designed for acrylic display boxes with approx. internal dimensions:
• Base: 33 x 21 cm
• Height: ~23 cm
